Girl Scouting in the Rio Grande Valley encourages girls by teaching them to believe in themselves, recognize their strengths, and to imagine a future of exciting options. You can take part in the life-affirming work of Girl Scouting by supporting the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Council.

ANNUAL GIVING
Support from the Rio Grande Valley community ensures that Girl Scouting will be available to every girl. These gifts help the Council to continue this timeless organization that develops girls into leaders of tomorrow. Funds support programs for girls. Memorials may also be made to recognize a loved one or honor a special person. Click here for the partnership form and check Annual Giving.

OUTREACH PROGRAM
The Tip of Texas Council began its Outreach Program in 2000 by reaching to girls who could not afford to be in Girl Scouts but deserved the opportunity. With transportation issues, the Girl Scout program is brought to them in their own familiar surroundings. Girls are served through low-income public schools, housing authorities, the Texas Migrant Council and through Boys and Girls Clubs.
By supporting the Outreach Program, you are providing membership, handbooks, uniform components and badges for low income girls.

WINGS
"Women Investing in Girl Scouting" was formed in 2003 and was designed to create the largest fund ever established in Texas to directly benefit girls of the Rio Grande Valley. The WINGS program is philanthropy by women, for women. It is an opportunity for women of influence to make a genuine difference in the lives of thousands of Girl Scouts across the Valley. By being a WINGS member, you are part of a 135 select philanthropic women and will receive an exclusively designed WINGS pin, permanent recognition at Camp Bayview, and an invitation to an Annual Wings Event. All funds support programs for the girls and Camp Bayview. The membership is $1,000 and is payable over 4 years. Click here for the WINGS membership form.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
The Council initiated a Capital Campaign in 2001 to raise funds and develop a new Girl Scout Camp. With the former Camp Lula Sams being located along the railroad tracks, it become a safety risk for the girls. The Council sold the Camp and has been without a "place to call home" for nearly 10 years. In 2004, the Council was offered the opportunity to purchase a training center in Bayview, Texas. Through a generous in-kind donation by American Electric Power, the Council purchased the property and is currently making improvements to provide programs for Girl Scouts. The Council is in need of funds to continue making improvements and to equip the camp for Girl Scout use. Following are naming opportunities available:

Primitive Camping Site and Playing Fields $80,000
Cabins $30,000
Outdoor Kitchen Pavilions $10,000
Troop Cooking Equipment $500
Fire Rings $500
Picnic Tables $250
Bunkbeds $250
Wagons $100

All capital contributions over $1,000 may be paid over 3-5 years.

PAVERS
A lasting way to honor Girl Scouting and to become a part of history at Camp Bayvew is to purchase a paver. By purchasing a paver, you are making a donation to a worthy cause and your engraved paver will be placed at the campsite for generations of Girl Scouts to view. Click here for a paver form.

WOMEN OF DISTINCTION EVENT
In 2005, The Tip of Texas Council is honoring Rita K. Roney as the Women of Distinction. Rita K. Roney grew up as a Girl Scout in the Rio Grande Valley and has demonstrated the highest level of community service and patriotism. She continues to work supporting the Council and offering all girls the opportunity to be a part of the program. Rita K. and Glen Roney provided funds for a new Amphitheatre at Camp Bayview. This amphitheatre is the only one of its kind in the Rio Grande Valley and will be used for Ceremonies, Chapel and Programs.
