Becoming a Girl Scout
Girl Scouts is open to all girls ages 5-17 regardless of ethnicity,
religion or socio-economic status who accept the Girls Scout Promise and
Law. Adults over the age of 18 can also join Girls Scouts.
Many studies have shown that in mixed groups girls have fewer opportunities to participate and receive less adult attention than boys. A separate, all girl environment has proven to be an effective way to increase performance, achievement, and leadership or girls. Girl Scouting provides a place where girls can develop all their abilities without many of the variables that often work against them in a co-ed setting.
