Congratulations to the Girl Scouts who have made this outstanding achievement during the 2008-2009 Membership Year.

Troop 204
Lauryn Brough of Troop 204 created peace poles to donate to her church.  Mia Martinez of the same troop titled her project “The Greatest Gift is Giving” and collected donations of baby supplies for the birthing center in Weslaco.  Nina Martinez collected donations of supplies and food for Palm Valley Animal Shelter.  Michelle Lee Fischer collected and donated items and coordinated volunteer service for the Humane Society.

Troop 295
Maria Boswell, Katarina Segura, Megan LeMarr, Daisy Huerta, and Julissa Garcia of Troop 295 benefited their church with their project.  They learned about basic construction, painting, and printing skills. 

Troop 9845
Victoria Jones, Haley Sheridan, Savannah Graf, and Amber Breaux made repairs, painted, and redecorated the Scout Center in Portland and made it a friendly and functional place for Girl Scouts to meet.

Troop 9644
Jodi Swaenepoel, Elizabeth Acevedo, Alexys Perez, and Natalie Villarreal created a mural and donated it to the Corpus Christi Humane Society for them to use as a backdrop in their portraits of animals for adoption. 

Troop 9308
Ashley Zamzow, Lillie Council, Kailey Keach, and Taylor Thompson learned about the importance of fingerprinting children for safety, and conducted an event where kids were fingerprinted for their parents.

Troop 9637
Caroline Orr collected backpacks and filled them with information and supplies to give to people who are homeless who have pets, and donated the backpacks to Metro Ministries in Corpus Christi.

Troop 9711
Mariah Pierce, Madelynn Patzner, Megan Grossman, Kara Fisher, Chylee Nelson, and Emily Ordner of Troop 9711 did a drive of donations for the PALS animal shelter and donated supplies and food.

Troop 321
Noelle Campos, Dominique Melendez, Mikayla Brama, Lauren Guerrero, Sarah Aguirre, Jacey Castro, Madison Martinez, Mallory Castillo, Madeline Brama, Alexandra Garcia, Xazel Cerda, Emma Salas, Dinorah De La Cerda, Stephanie Cardenas, and Mariza Cardenas sewed puppets and made matching story books to donate to children at Kids’ Corner Daycare. 

Troop 9665
Sarah Gilliam, Karlie Wilkinson, Kayla Jacobs, Amanda Moore, and Melany Escamilla collected life jackets and promoted community awareness for C.C. Sail Away, a sailing program for people with disabilities.

Troop 9829
Mary Manville, Kimberly Manville, Ashley Elliott, and Catharina Garrett collected, sorted, and bagged craft supplies to donate to Driscoll Children’s Hospital for children who are patients at the hospital.

Troop 9523
Raeanna Spicer of Troop 9523 helped to coordinate an event for Daisies to earn their Respect Authority petal by inviting guest speakers and leading games with the girls during an overnight event.

Troop 9500
Tiffany Itz built a fire ring for the Girl Scout hut in Victoria where girls can now have campfires during their activities.

Troop 96044
Carolina Barron, Kayla LeShay Gonzales, Miranda Pena, Angelica Benavides, and Brianna Johnston organized an event where admission was donation of canned food, and donated the to the Ronald McDonald House.

Troop 9440
Kyra Williams researched Goliad’s past by researching, conducting interviews, and photographing, and used what she learned to educate children about the rich history of their area.
