Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Hurricane Harvey. We are touched by the responses coming from Girl Scouts across our council, state, and across the movement, reaching out to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. We have reached out to our Rockport/Portland/ Victoria service units to offer our support. Some have been evacuated due to the storm.
How you can help:
Fundraising efforts will be undertaken with the sole intention of providing membership assistance to impacted girls. To contribute to this effort, please go to www.girlscouts.org/hurricaneharvey or text HurricaneHarvey to 41444. You can give to the fund for all four councils, which GSUSA will distribute based on their need, as defined by impacted membership, or you can choose a specific council.
How to request assistance:
Hurricane Harvey Grant Assistance FAQ
If you are a member in GSGST and your Girl Scout needs assistance for her membership or Girl Scout materials, like her sash or vest, please complete the Hurricane Harvey Grant Assistance form.
At this time, Girl Scout councils across Texas are pleased to announce the creation of the Texas Girl Scout Hurricane Relief Patch. This is a patch program which will not only educate girls about disaster preparedness and relief, but ask them to take action. We hope that your Girl Scout and her troop will take part in this state-wide program. We are committed to supporting our fellow Girl Scout councils across the state now and in the months to come.
The impacted councils remain so grateful for the outpouring of support. However, please note that these councils continue to ask for time to assess and focus on their specific needs and to get back up and running during this critical time. Although material donations and troop offers of assistance have been greatly appreciated, as you can imagine, the councils are not currently in a position to process and organize them.
