Congratulations to the Girl Scouts who have made this outstanding achievement during the 2010-2011 Membership Year.

IGS - Audrey Cate & Raeanna Spicer
Audrey and Raeanna coordinated events at the Southbrooke Manor Nursing Home in Edna for residents, their families, and staff members, to increase interaction and fun.  The girls used their event planning experience to create a binder of easy event ideas, and they donated it to the activities director for future use.

IGS – Carolyn Swize

9231 – Paula Zaragosa and Angela Pineda
Paul and Angela researched how girl and adult members of Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas would like to be able to communicate with one another, and created an online forum for Girl Scouts to share ideas, network, and learn.  They designed and promoted the website, which is now available for use by all of the council.

9232 – Leilani Adrian, Veronica Garcia, and Haley Wagner
Leilani, Veronica, and Haley hosted a workshop for girls in grades 3 through 8 to address issues of bullying, nutrition, self confidence, and self defense.  They planned interactive games and conversations to learn to set goals and be successful.

Alexis improved the safety and appearance of the concession stand for Shiner ISD.  She cleaned, painted, and resurfaced countertops to update the stand to improve sales and sanitation.

9557 – Danielle Malik, Emma Andruss, Iris Young, and Isabella Aparicio
Danielle, Emma, Iris, and Isabella designed and repaired special event materials for the Our Lady of Victory Cathedral in Victoria.  They sanded, painted, and restored booths, a cake wheel, duck pond booth, stations of the cross, and other materials needed for future events.

Megan built book shelves to replace old, damaged bookshelves in the Lodge Library and did a book drive to provide new nature-related books to be a resource for camp and outdoor programs.

96070 – Theresa Sonka
Theresa revitalized the library at Camp Green Hill by organizing the books, games, and objects such as bones and fossils and put them on display where they are accessible to groups who use the camp.  She removed all damaged and unused items, and replaced them with new usable items.

9618 – Mary Hediger
Mary created a patch program to educate and enlighten girls about the beach, covering topics of biology, chemistry, environmentalism, and having fun while being safe.  The program has been adopted as a council patch program.
