What Training to Take
and When
You might wonder why leaders have to be trained before starting
a troop. The answer to this question is simple-- it is a "Safety-Wise"
and Council policy. All volunteers need to be trained for their
positions in Girl Scouting. If you accept a position with our
council then you will be asked to attend training. We want you
to be a confident volunteer.
Your Girl Scout education should
begin with an Orientation from your Membership Executive or appointed
service unit volunteer.
Your First Training
New Leader/Grade Level
Every leader is required to take
this course (A 7 hour course) within 4 weeks of their appointment.
Assistant leaders may also attend but are not required.
If you have older Girl Scouts
you will need to complete the Studio 2B/Cadette/Senior Training.
Please contact the Training Director if you need the Studio 2
B Training.
If you are a leader changing levels
and have already taken the New Leader portion of training, you
can attend the grade level only. Please indicate level only on your
Training Registration Form.
Troop Camp Consultant Training
Troop Certification Weekends are held throughout
the year. If you would like to take your troop camping you must
first get your outdoor certification. Any registered member can
take this course and receive the certification for the troop.
The volunteer with the certification must always accompany the
troop on all camping trips. You must attend the entire weekend
to receive your certification this includes spending the night.
The fee for this course is $20.00
First Aid Training
