Girl Scout Library Tree Decorating Event
Hheld December 13, 2008 at the Bronte Room at the Victoria Public Library

Thank you to all who came to prep and assist at the event!  All your hard work paid off!  We had over 85 children come to help decorate the two trees.  From one water bottle we made a reindeer head, an icicle and a snowflake.  If you have a chance to get by the library during this Christmas season, be sure to go by and take a look at the great art work!

I would like to send out a special thank you to the girls, moms and our honorary Girl Scout, Sara Hounshell who were able to stay and help lead the program.

I also want to send a huge thank you to Ms. Rachel Brown of the City of Victoria.  Rachel brought some winter scenes that were projected on the wall as well as taught us about the Blue Sky Initiative Program.  Rachel and her assistant illustrated how the car emissions get into our schools. Rachel came up with our water bottle decoration ideas.

I appreciate those that supported this event!  We had a great time!
I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

GIRL SCOUTS EARN AEROSPACE BADGE

On Saturday, February 9, 2008, Girl Scout Troop #95035 joined other Junior Girl Scouts at a camp-in at Space Center Houston.  During their stay at the Space Center, the girls learned many things and earned the Aerospace Badge.  They put together a small model glider and were taught many different flight maneuvers, they took a guided tour of a mock-up Space Shuttle Orbiter's Mid-deck and Flight deck, also, a guided tram tour was given to see various buildings at the Johnson Space Center , which included rockets and shuttles.  The girls also learned about different types of food the astronauts eat in space and how they go to the restroom.  They had the opportunity to learn how astronauts train, who trains them, and why it is important.  One of the girls favorite things they did was secure an egg to a model space shuttle and launched it.   This was a wonderful experience for the Girl Scouts and they had a great time earning the Aerospace Badge.  Pictured are: Jayde Kurtz, Skyler Henry, Maggie Grosenbacher, Ashley Indorf, and Adrian King.
