Girl Scouts offers volunteer opportunities for all levels of time commitment. You can choose the opportunities that fit your skills, talents, interests, and availability. Whether you have a few weekends a year to spare or want to make a weekly commitment, we have many fun and rewarding positions to choose from. There are many Pathways for adults to enter Girl Scouting and more information on Pathways can be found on our homepage.  We offer training and support for volunteers and will help you turn your interests into a rewarding volunteer experience. We encourage you to pursue your ideas, ambitions, or share your areas of expertise.

As a Girl Scout volunteer, you might work with teens to help them deal with peer pressure, go with girls on their first camping trip, or teach a finance workshop that will influence a young woman's future direction. You will also meet other interesting, committed volunteers who share your passion for helping others and giving back to the community.

Benefits to volunteering include:

  1. Opportunity to make a contribution to the development of girls;
  2. Opportunity to increase self-esteem;
  3. Learning opportunities in public speaking, goal setting, supervision, time management, team building, etc.; and
  4. Opportunities to meet new people and forge new friendships.

Girl Scouts has a place—and need—for you! Simply call or email to find the perfect volunteer position for you.

The new volunteer redesign has volunteer positions on four levels: Council, Regional, Community and Direct Service.  These positions also function across the council in ALL Departments:  Membership, Program, Volunteer Services, Product Sales and Communication/Marketing.  Volunteer positions are no longer limited to adult volunteers!  We are looking for girls (Cadette-Ambassador) with Girl Scout Leadership Experience to help deliver the Girl Scout Movement throughout our council and beyond.  So, you ready for a new experience?!  See the charts below for position descriptions, trainings needed and resources for all new volunteer positions.

These procedures apply to all leaders and volunteers with responsibility for girls and participants at official Girl Scout activities. It is very important that these steps are followed consistently in any emergency situation. NOTE: The following procedures are provided to Girl Scout volunteers on postcard-size cards. Remember to keep your card with you, readily available for quick reference in case of emergency.

  1. Always have someone in the group as the designee to call 911.
  2. Remain calm.
  3. Give priority attention to providing all possible care for the injured.
  4. Secure emergency medical services and law enforcement as appropriate.
  5. Report the emergency immediately by calling GSGST 956-495-6142.
  6. In the event of a serious accident or fatality, always notify law enforcement. Do not leave the scene of the accident until law enforcement arrives. If you must leave, retain a responsible person at the scene. Ensure that the victim and the surroundings are not disturbed until law enforcement has assumed authority.
  7. Record in writing:
    • Conditions existing at time of incident.
    • Names, addresses, and phone numbers of witnesses.
    • Order of events leading up to and following the incident.
    • Any medical attention, opinions, or instructions received from parents.
  8. Submit completed insurance forms and a copy of the above record of the incident to GSGST within four (4) days.
  9. MAKE NO STATEMENTS TO THE MEDIA. Take a message and inform them that someone will return their call. Refer all media inquiries (press, radio, television) to GSGST. If a GSGST staff member is not readily available, then report the media request by calling GSGST 956-495-6142
  10.  Do not discuss the incident, place blame, or accept liability.
