Girl Scouts helps girls discover their talents and strengths, connect with others, and take action in their communities. Trained, caring adult volunteers provide opportunities for girls to practice decision-making skills, develop healthy and positive self-esteem, and pursue interests in a supportive nurturing all-girl environment. Girls and adults plan together, as partners, to decide what activities they will do.
Girl Scout Daisies (grades K-1) earn petals, hike and camp, participate in the cookie program, and much more. They have tons of fun and make new friends that will last a lifetime! A Girl Scout Daisy's leadership journey begins with her choice of Girl Scouting's three journey series: It's Your World - Change It!, It's Your Planet - Love It! and It's Your Story - Tell It!
In this journey for Daisies, a favorite pastime -- gardening -- meets the Girl Scout Law. The result is a storybook world of flowers and little girls who, together, do great things. Girl Scout Daisies will especially enjoy meeting the colorful, global characters who teach them to live the Girl Scout Law.
Girl Scout Daisies join their flower friends for an exciting road trip in a flower-powered car. As they travel the country living the values of the Girl Scout Law, the girls and their flower friends enjoy what's local and learn why that's important. They experience what's great about what grows near them, and they learn how their own special skills make the world a better place.
Daisies learn just how much they can care for animals and for themselves—and just how good that makes them feel.

The Girl Scout program is fun with purpose, to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouting is based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) where girls discover themselves, connect with others, and take action to make the world a better place. Girl Scout activities take place within the safety of an all-girl environment where girls take the lead, learn by doing, and learn cooperatively.
The Girl Scout Leadership Experience: What it is
There are many ways for Girl Scouts to participate, and there are many options for what they will do - earn badges, travel, earn awards, give service to their communities, and much more. But no matter what activities Girl Scouts do, they use Three Keys:
Discover - Girls understand themselves and their values and use their knowledge and skills to explore the world.
Connect - Girls care about, inspire, and team with others locally and globally.
Take Action - Girls act to make the world a better place.
The Girl Scout Leadership Experience: How it Works
How girls complete activities is just as important as what activities they complete. That's why Girl Scout program uses three processes that give girls the opportunities to practice and develop leadership.
Girl-Led - Girls in every level take an active role in deciding what, where, when, why, and how they'll do activities. This process, as part of an adult-girl partnership, supports girls' empowerment and decision-making abilities.
Learn By Doing - Hands-on learning engages girls in an ongoing cycle of action and reflection, as they master skills and learn new concepts. This learning is more memorable and meaningful.
Cooperative Learning - Girls share knowledge, skills, and experiences in an atmosphere of respect and cooperation. Girls work together to meet common goals, while engaging individual girls' talents and creating a sense of belonging.
The Girl Scout Leadership Experience - Why it's Important
Whichever Pathway or activities girls choose in Girl Scouting, the programs are tied to one of 15 short-term outcomes to ensure eveyr girl receives a quality leadership experience. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is what leadership "looks like" for girls and empowers them to:
Transforming Leadership, a book published by GSUSA, outlines the Discover-Connect-Take Action framework of the 15 outcomes, and helps adults to understand how girls will benefit from the Girl Scout Leadership Experience now and in the future.
