 Frequently-Asked Questions about Becoming a Council Trainer- Facilitator

  1. What does a facilitator do? A council Trainer-facilitator has the responsibility for facilitating adult learning for adult Girl Scout volunteers to enable participants to carry out their specific Girl Scout volunteer responsibilities.
  2. What types of courses does a Trainer-facilitator teach? There are several types of course areas: Such as-  Leadership, First Aid/CPR, and Outdoor Courses. Training-facilitators decide what areas they would like to train.  
  3. What time commitment is required? Council Trainer-facilitators are asked to complete an agreed upon number of classes for the year.
  4. What does it cost? The Trainer-Facilitating Adult Learning course is FREE!
  5. What is the certification process? The council Trainer-facilitator certification process for Trainer-facilitators consists of four parts. The first is attending the Trainer- Facilitating Adult Learning course. Next, new Trainer-facilitators co-teach with other experienced facilitators over a period of at least one year. Third, facilitators are also invited to  attend a weekend Trainer's conference,which is held in May.  Fourt- Trainer-facilitator's are encouraged to train at any of the four Volunteer Conference's and or Girl Scout Academies.
  1. Who can be a trainer-faciliatator? Any adult interested in being apprentice facilitators must have two years of Girl Scout  experience.
  2. Who can become a teen trainer-facilitator?  Ambassador Girl Scouts
