Corpus Christi, TX (May 23, 2022) — Becky L. Garcia Voted Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas New Chair of the Board of Directors Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas (GSGST) voted longtime volunteer, Becky L. Garcia, as the new Chair and President of the Board of Directors. Ms. Garcia is a Financial Services Professional with New York Life Insurance Company, where she helps smal business owners, families, and individuals meet current and future financial goals through tailored solutions through out South Texas. Garcia has been involved in Girl Scouting for nearly 15 years. She began as a Brownie in Troop 402 at Windsor Park Elementary in the early 1980s and bridged through to Cadettes in the Girl Scout Paisano Council. Becky credits her time selling Girl Scout Cookies as he first job, and where her passion from selling comes from. As an adult member she serve on the Board of Directors for the Girl Scout Paisano Council from 2005 – 2006, prior to it’s merging with the Tip of Texas Council to create the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas. Becky was honored with the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Power of the Purse Wall of Fame Honoree Award in 2014. She has served on the GSGST Board of Directors since 2017. For the past two years she served as an Executive Board Member. She also served as Chair Elect, Board Development Chair and Chair of the organization’s Dessert First -the Perfect Pair fundraiser for the Coastal Bend area. In 2021 she also become a Lifetime Girl Scout.

With Becky newly named as the Chair, the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas will have its first Chair of the Board located back in Corpus Christi since the merging of the Paisano Council and the Tip of Texas Council since 2007. Her vision is to see Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas grow again in South Texas, with every girl having the opportunity t be a part of Girl Scouts, to encourage Girl Scout Alum involvement, and to make Camp Green Hill into a signature camp sites for Girl Scouts all over the country Garcia has a Bachelors in Business Administration – Management from Texas A&M University in College Station, Class of 1998 with an emphasis in Marketing, a Masters in Public Administration from Texas A&M International University (Laredo, Texas), and a Retirement Income Certified Professional designation from the American College. She is also a graduate of the Latina Leadership Institute Cohort 6 – San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2021, Leadership Corpus Christi Class 32 – Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce 2003-2004 and was named in the first class of Corpus Christi 40 Under 40 in 2006, and then again in 2012.

Becky also actively volunteers for Buccaneer Days and Corpus Christi Rodeo, sitting on the VIP committee. She is the Past President of the Nueces County A&M Club and the Past President Emeritus of the Laredo A&M Club, mentors for the Aggie Women’s Network, and has served in several capacities for the Association of Former Students Becky has a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and is a member of the Texas A&M Foundation Heritage Legacy Society.


Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas provides leadership and skills development programs for girls in grades K-12 residing in 26 South Texas counties, with service centers in Corpus Christi, Harlingen, Laredo, McAllen and Victoria. As Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Girls grow courageous and strong through a wide variety of enriching experiences, such as field trips, skill-building sports clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardships.
